When old buildings fall into disrepair they do not represent a chapter of history lost; their crumbling form is in fact part of history itself. They lie forlorn on the landscape, waiting for life to be breathed back into them and their surrounds. One such property is the Mas Mariassa, an old abandoned farm house which has been lovingly restored as a hotel. It is set amidst the dry Garriga landscape with its almond, fig and olive trees, and stone terraces; a truly Southern Catalan vista. The Mas Mariassa embraces neighbouring Baix Camp and both work hard to be able to delight in the surrounding lands. The countryside spreads out before us and finds its way into the property to fill glasses and bowls; this is after all a gourmet hotel with its own allotment. Restored to its former glory, the 18th century farmhouse has retained its original charm and authentic elements, incorporating warm furnishings and elegant textures. Bright and simple decor.

Cuisine

Based on traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a personal touch. Two special menus to choose: Market Menu (25 €) and Tasting Menu (35 €). Permanent selection of mainly regional wines: Montsant, Priorat and Terra Alta among others.

An 18 hole golf course is located 10 minutes away. The beach is 15 minutes away. Hiking. Horse riding. Visits to vineyards (Falset). Port Aventura (theme park). Quad bikes. Free entry to the municipal swimming pool and tennis courts at Pratdip. Local excursions include Pratdip, the Miró Museum (Mont-Roig del Camp), Samà -de Gaudí Park, the ruins at Tarragona-Tarraco and the Delta del Ebro Nature Reserve. It is equiped with spa with sauna, Jacuzzi with chromo therapy and massage room.
